The world has gotten used to the United States being the global police and military assistance provider/funder. Does the United States as a sovereign nation really owe any country anything? Technically, it doesn't! We have a huge national debt, and this we do owe. With relevance to Ukraine, we have sent billions of dollars for help in their war against Russia. Although, much of the money seems to be unaccounted for, which anyone's guess perhaps is thay it was used for money laundering.
The United States currently has an administration that puts Americans first, so basically the rest of the world can take a number. Zelensky comes to the White House supposedly to sign an agreement (deal) with the United States for rare earth minerals in Ukraine which also involved a peace treaty with Russia which the United States was negotiating simultaneously. Zelensky deep down seems to want to defeat Russia, but he doesn't have the upper hand. One can spin this many ways explaining. I personally don't even care about the details anymore, so I am going to change the subject to Cuba and Castro. On December 31,1958 Castro took over the island of Cuba. Do the research and find out how many soldiers Castro had in the Sierra Maestra? I highly doubt he had enough to take over an island like Cuba. I am pretty sure that someone (maybe CIA) in the United States made a phone call to Batista and told him you have to get out, and Batista followed the instructions and left the country, although Batista had won the November 1, 1954 election with a majority of voters.
Subsequently, Castro came in and marched through the streets with his cronies, almost everyone seemed to back him. He was now the new guy in charge. Two years later in December 1961, Castro said he was a Marxist–Leninist. Castro had begun seizing United States property already before this happened. In 1962, President Kennedy sanctioned the Castro regime with an embargo. A few months before in April of 1961, the Bay of Pigs invasion took place. I strongly suggest reading up about the brave guys from Brigade 2506. They managed to kill many of Castro's guys although they were outnumbered, abandoned, and their supplies and back-up never made it. Moreover, they actually changed the geographic area of the invasion from the original plan at the last minute to a rougher terrain (bay of pigs) making things more difficult. In October 1962, the Soviet Union placed nuclear missiles in Cuba aimed at the United States from only 90 miles away. Long story short, that was 63 years ago and the United States is still doing well on the world's stage. I will stop here and return to Zelensky briefly.
Who does Zelensky think he is coming to the White House trying to blackmail President Donald Trump saying if we don't fund him the war will be here at our door eventually? Mr. Zelensky we've already had the missiles pointed at us from next door practically. I am so done with this rant.
To conclude, I wish Bay of Pigs would have turned out differently and Cuba would be free today. Many of us Cubans lost property, businesses, farms, and much more. I wish someone here would make the phone call and tell the regime in Cuba to leave, but that hasn't happened. Our new Secretary of State 63 years laster is actually Cuban-American such as myself, so that's a little optimistic. Now, if Zelensky wants to defeat Putin, he still can try, but don't come around here threatening us ever again. Got it?
With relevance to Cuba, I've always found some of the past U.S. policy difficult to comprehend, or perhaps hypocritical. Why? We went to fight the North Koreans (communism) before Castro was ever in power. Castro said he was Marxist–Leninist (communist), and so was his government. Afterwards, we went to fight communism in Vietnam for years. Both Korea and Vietnam are thousands of miles from the U.S. on the other side of the Pacific, yet Cuba is only 90 miles from the United States, practically next door. Mind boggling!
ReplyDeleteOf course, I heard Richard Nixon once say many years after he was out of office that maybe those missiles were still down there. Nixon had intelligence briefings, so why would he say something like that since he would have known for a fact if it was true or false. Mind boggling!
