While Wall Street was rising, Main Street was going down for decades. The market goes up and down every time investors react. We haven't seen any collapse thus far, but some self correcting seems to be manifesting. Wall Street can have a hissy fit, but they very likely might be selling stocks for more than what they are worth (over value). Tariffs didn't cause the Great Depression, but bad economic policy did. Propaganda? Very likely!
If tariffs didn't work, other countries wouldn't put tariffs on the United States. Thus far the biggest critic seems to be China. I interpret that to mean they know the Trump strategy will work.
