Hopefully, this will be my last political comment today. Anyhow, if you know me I try to take things with a grain of salt. We are in an election year, and the rhetoric seems to be way out of control.
On racism, for instance, some politicians are not going to be able to sell me the idea that this is Trump's fault. Why? Trump has been in office 3 years while Biden, Pelosi, and Schumer have almost 120 years combined in office. Moreover, the previous administration had 8 years. If anything, Trump has helped alleviate problems. A good example, the 1994 Crime Bill which landed many black men in prison with long sentences was cowrote by Biden. How did Trump help alleviate? He signed the 2018 FIRST STEP Act which shortened mandatory sentences. Yes, it was a bipartisan bill, but the president can veto and did not. The question is who created the discriminatory problem? If you ask me, the one's accusing Trump are guilty.

ReplyDeleteCon suerte, este será mi último comentario político hoy. De todos modos, si me conoces, trato de tomar las cosas con cautela. Estamos en un año electoral, y la retórica parece estar fuera de control.
Sobre el racismo, por ejemplo, algunos políticos no podrán venderme la idea de que esto es culpa de Trump. ¿Por qué? Trump ha estado en el cargo 3 años, mientras que Biden, Pelosi y Schumer tienen casi 120 años combinados en el cargo. Además, la administración anterior estuvo 8 años con poder ejecutivo. En todo caso, Trump ha ayudado a aliviar los problemas. Un buen ejemplo, la Ley de Delitos de 1994, que llevó a muchos hombres de raza negra a prisión con largas penas en donde Biden fue coautor de la misma. ¿Cómo ayudó a aliviar Trump? Firmó la Ley FIRST STEP 2018 que acortó las sentencias obligatorias. Sí, era un proyecto de ley bipartidista, pero el presidente puede vetar y no lo hizo. La pregunta es quién creó el problema discriminatorio. Si me preguntas, los acusadores de Trump son culpable.
