The marketing for the biannual time changes is deceptive. In case some don't remember, in November we switch from DST to normal Standard Time. In March we switch from normal time to DST. And we are kept on DST for almost eight months. Basically, the durations of both are not even divided into equal halves. At this time let's just focus on why the marketing is dishonest and deceptive.
They say we fall back when we go back to normal time. Sure, I understand it's done in the fall, but falling is usually not a good thing. Hence, "I have fallen and I can't get up." What really happens is we return our clocks back to normal time. We get an extra hour for around four months which was lost that previous March. The point is that we don't fall back. It's just the opposite, we gain. We gain an extra hour of sleep, if we wish to use it. Also, this is done a few weeks before the Winter Solstice, so it's dark early, which gives the impression that it's dark because of the time change. They say we spring forward in March, when we return to abnormal time, DST. Springing forward sounds as if one is advancing. The truth is that we are losing. Technically, we lose sleep. We lose an hour for eight months. Sleep deprivation is extremely unhealthy, not to mention dangerous. The lie is that what really happens is just the opposite of advancement.
To conclude, the way we are sold what really happens during the biannual time changes is deceptive and dishonest. We do not spring forward, and we do not fall back (just the opposite). If we really wish to live healthy lives, we should remain on normal Standard Time permanently and never change again ever.
